What We Do
Our Intervention
Y-REC empowers young people to improve their mental well-being while contributing to greener and more resilient communities. Through hands-on environmental action, youth transform neglected urban spaces into inclusive, biodiversity-friendly environments that support both people and nature.
By combining mental health support with community-led restoration activities, the project encourages active participation, social connection, and sustainable urban living across Europe.
Project outputs
Explore the practical tools, platforms, activities, and guides developed through Y-REC.
Youth Worker Manual & Youth Guide
These practical resources support youth workers and young people in designing and implementing urban restoration and mental well-being initiatives.
The Youth Worker Manual provides guidance on mental health support, sustainable living practices, leadership development, and community transformation. The Youth Guide acts as a hands-on toolkit, helping young people plan, budget, and implement local restoration projects.
Digital Collaboration Platform & Youth Initiatives Compendium
The Digital Collaboration Platform serves as an online hub where youth participants, organisations, and stakeholders can exchange ideas, collaborate across borders, and share project experiences.
The platform also hosts the Youth Initiatives Compendium — a collection of case studies, good practices, and inspiring youth-led initiatives that encourage learning, replication, and long-term impact.
Community Restoration Projects
Young people will design and implement local restoration projects based on the needs of their communities.
Activities may include urban greening, community gardens, rooftop gardens, biodiversity-friendly spaces, clean-up drives, and well-being activities such as mindfulness sessions in green environments. These initiatives combine environmental sustainability with mental well-being while promoting active citizenship and community engagement.
Good Practice Guide & Youth Festivals
The Good Practice Guide will showcase successful approaches, lessons learned, and practical recommendations for combining mental well-being and environmental action at community level.
To celebrate the project’s achievements, Youth Festivals will be organised across partner countries, bringing together young people, local communities, and stakeholders through interactive activities, workshops, and public events in restored urban spaces.
